Question 283: To ask the Minister for Finance if a recent audit has been carried out on all public buildings, to ensure that they are fitted with appropriate equipment for deaf people, including counter loops, flashing light fire alarms and so on; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Commissioners of Public Works have advised that, in respect of public buildings in their care, access audits are carried out on an ongoing basis. Audio Frequency Induction Loop Systems are being installed at all reception and meeting room facilities as part of the OPW's Universal Access Programme. Visual alarm systems are being installed where required when alarm systems are replaced or upgraded.
