Question 167: To ask the Minister for Health and Children the reason a person (details supplied) in County Cork was told that they would not be granted a mobility allowance on the grounds of age and that they should be between the ages of 18 and 66 to be eligible for same; and the further reason it has taken so long to allocate them an electric wheelchair despite the fact that they had a leg amputated in May 2005. The Deputy's question relates to the management and delivery of health and personal social services, which are the responsibility of the Health Service Executive under the Health Act 2004. Accordingly, my Department has requested the Parliamentary Affairs Division of the Executive to arrange to have this matter investigated and to have a reply issued directly to the Deputy.
