I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that statistics on the amount of corporation tax paid by multinational corporations are not separately available.

However, data can be derived from corporation tax returns on the percentage of corporation tax attributable to companies taxed wholly or partly at the reduced rate of 10 per cent, and including the tax of IFSC companies at both the 10 per cent rate and the standard rate of 121⁄2% which came into effect on 1 January 2003. Many of these companies could be classed as multinational corporations. This information, in respect of accounting periods ending between 1 April, 1999 and 31 December, 2004, the latest available, is as set out in the following table.

Year EndedPercentage of total Corporation Tax yield from companies qualifying for the 10% rateEstimated Corporation Tax yield from companies qualifying for the 10% rate
€m
31 March 2000572,185
31 March 2001612,716
31 December 2001612,521
31 December 2002622,580
31 December 2003582,496
31 December 2004502,194

These figures relate to the total tax liability of companies which qualify for the reduced rate of 10 per cent on some or all of their profits.
