Question 350: To ask the Minister for Health and Children if she has proposals to make available a comprehensive information pamphlet for parents who may be concerned about autism and its characteristics; her views on this booklet containing information including information on symptoms to watch out for, help groups available and accessing assessment services; and if she will make a statement on the matter. As the Deputy may be aware, the Parent's Initiative Planning Group with support and funding from the Health Promotion Unit of my Department, has published a booklet entitled "What do I do now?". This booklet was written by parents for parents who have learned that their child has special needs.

The remainder of the Deputy's question relates to the management and delivery of health and personal social services, which are the responsibility of the Health Service Executive under the Health Act 2004. Accordingly, my Department has requested the Parliamentary Affairs Division of the Executive to arrange to have this matter investigated and to have a reply issued directly to the Deputy.
