Question 486: To ask the Minister for Education and Science her views on Trinity College's recent announcement to terminate its three year professional actor training programme, The Bachelor in Acting Studies; and the repercussions this decision is expected to have for those potential acting students as this course was the only one of its kind here. The position is that the universities are autonomous institutions and my Department does not have any function in their day to day operational affairs. The universities receive a block grant from the Higher Education Authority and it is a matter for each institution to determine how it is allocated internally.
