Question 1015: To ask the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources the way he can claim not to have anything to do with the location of mobile phone masts in view of the fact that An Bord Pleanála in granting planning permission for the erection of telecommunication masts has stated that not to do so would be in contravention of Government telecommunication strategy; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department has no function in this matter. Matters pertaining to decisions of An Bord Pleanála are a matter for the Board. Matters relating to planning policy, including requirements regarding location of mobile phone masts, are a matter for my colleague, the Minister for Environment, Heritage and Local Government.
