Question 123: To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the plans for a temporary Garda station in Monasterevin in view of the fact that the current station is closed for renovation and that the residents of Monasterevin have to travel the considerable distance to Rathangan or Kildare to conduct their business with the Gardaí; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I refer the Deputy to my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 256 of 1st November, 2006. I understand from OPW that tender competitions relating to their proposals to determine the remedial works required to re-open the Station are nearing completion.
When proposals are received from the Board and examined by Garda Authorities, a decision can be taken on how best to proceed, including the provision of temporary accommodation, if appropriate.
