Question 253: To ask the Minister for Transport if he has satisfied himself with the number of inspections carried out by the relevant vehicle inspection authorities in the United Kingdom on Irish registered carriers vehicles while travelling in the UK and their economic impact on Irish carriers; the way the inspection rates compare with inspection rates on carriers from other EU Member States; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I have no function in relation to the roadside inspection of vehicles in the United Kingdom. As a consequence of the Road Safety Authority Act 2006 (Conferral of Functions) Order 2006 (S.I. No. 477 of 2006) the Road Safety Authority is now responsible for matters relating to vehicle standards in Ireland.
