Question 389: To ask the Minister for Transport if, in the context of the positive submission made to the Department of Transport and to his Department, in relation to the reopening of the Mullingar to Athlone railway line, he will take steps to ensure that funding is provided for same and in particular the said plan to reopen this important infrastructural link, which is extremely important in the context of the National Spatial Strategy and the western region; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Question 390: To ask the Minister for Transport if his Department has carried out an evaluation of proposals submitted by a group (details supplied) who presented a comprehensive and positive submission to his Department seeking that approval be given to the reopening of the Mullingar to Athlone railway line; if in this context, a decision will be immediately made thereon; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
