Question 180: To ask the Minister for Education and Science if she will review a parliamentary question (details supplied) in which she states that the person is not attending their nearest suitable school and may apply for school transport on a concessionary basis in the normal way; if her attention has been drawn to the fact that this person is attending a special language class at a school which is the nearest school available to them and which is a placement offered by the Health Service Executive and if the reply submitted by her is pertaining to the original parliamentary question; and if she will make a statement on the matter. On the basis of the information available to my Department's school transport section, the pupil referred to by the Deputy in the details supplied does not meet the Department's eligibility criteria for special class/special school placement. The pupil in question is not eligible for school transport to the school referred to in the details supplied as this is not his nearest suitable school.
