Question 262: To ask the Minister for Transport if his attention has been drawn to the fact that inspections for public service vehicle licences can take up to six months from time of application in County Waterford; his views on whether this is causing great difficulty for bus operators in County Waterford who wish to submit an application to his Department for a passenger licence; if he will hold discussions with the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform with a view to securing additional Garda resources to carry out inspections in respect of PSV licences in County Waterford; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The grant of large public service vehicle licences is a matter for the Garda Authorities who are also responsible for the administration of the vehicle licensing and associated vehicle testing process. I have no function in this matter or in the deployment of additional Garda resources in the Waterford area.
