Question 258: To ask the Minister for Transport the number of road traffic accident deaths recorded in 2006; the comparison figures for 1990, 1996 and 2000; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [41856/06]

The number of fatalities as a result of road traffic collisions to date (as of 4 December) in 2006 is 340. The number of fatalities for 1990, 1996 and 2000 are 478, 453 and 415 respectively.
