Question 183: To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will clarify that local arrangements exist with gardaí covering Chapelizod whereby the school bus is permitted to pull up outside the main gates of a school (details supplied) as there is no alternative way to allow children to disembark safely on such a busy road; the reason, if such an arrangement is in place, parking tickets are being issued to the driver, which may have repercussions for the driver's livelihood as well as the safety of school children coming from Palmerstown and Ballyfermot; if a clear notice will be given to all local gardaí and traffic gardaí to ensure that temporary dropping off is permitted; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I am informed by the Garda authorities that the public road at the entrance of the school referred to by the Deputy is governed by a continuous white line in the centre and double yellow lines on both sides. It is the duty of An Garda Síochána to enforce parking regulations.
