Question 575: To ask the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government the information available to his Department on the number of local authority dwellings currently boarded up or otherwise out of use; if figures are available in regard to individual local authorities; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The detailed information sought in the Question is not held in my Department. Available information indicates that at 31 December 2005 there were an estimated 2,500 vacant local authority dwellings, exclusive of vacant dwellings which are subject of planned refurbishment/remedial programmes. It is not possible to determine from these general figures how many dwellings are boarded up and out of use.
