Question 509: To ask the Minister for Education and Science the progress that has taken place to date to provide the facilities anticipated at a project (details supplied) in County Kildare with particular reference to the proposals in respect of autistic children; the reason for the long drawn out process in regard to the project; when she expects the unit to become fully operational; and if she will make a statement on the matter. As previously advised, Officials from my Department, the National Council for Special Education and the Health Service Executive met with members of the Board of Management of the school in June 2006 in order to progress the opening of the unit. The NCSE is continuing to liaise with the school on an ongoing basis in order to progress the situation.
