Question 127: To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the month and year of the applications for family reunification that are currently being dealt with in view of the fact that such applications are generally dealt with by his Department in chronological order; the average length of time it takes for such applications to be processed; the circumstances under which applications will be dealt with outside of chronological order; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I have been informed that applications for Family Reunification that were received in the period from July to August, 2005 are currently being dealt with in my Department. However, the recent assignment of additional resources to the area should have a positive impact in reducing processing times.

Applications for Family Reunification are normally dealt with in chronological order, but may occasionally have to be prioritised where there are compelling humanitarian considerations involved.
