Question 326: To ask the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the number of staff employed in Mayo County Enterprise Board, detailing their individual titles and roles and so on; and the administrative costs for the enterprise board on an annual basis for each of the past three years. Mayo County Enterprise Board (CEB) was established in 1993 to provide support to small businesses with 10 employees or fewer. The Board's function is to develop indigenous enterprise potential and to stimulate economic activity at local level. Mayo CEB supports individuals, firms, community groups, provided that the projects have the capacity to achieve commercial viability. Priority must be given to manufacturing and internationally traded services companies which could develop into strong export entities. There are 4 full-time staff currently working within Mayo CEB, a Chief Executive Officer, an Assistant Chief Executive Officer a Business Advisor and a Clerical Officer. The key roles undertaken by the staff of the Board include promoting the general economic development of the Mayo area, creating local enterprise awareness and developing an enterprise culture and community based enterprise activity, providing a single / first point of contact service to the business community, providing comprehensive pre and post start-up support to new and expanding micro enterprises and the delivery of management and capability development programmes aimed at improving the skills of owner managers so as to assist the survival rate amongst micro businesses and facilitate future growth; Details of the administrative costs of Mayo CEB for each of the past three years is attached in tabular form.
