Question 175: To ask the Taoiseach the number of EU directives awaiting transposition in his Department; the date by which these directives are to be, or were to be, transposed into Irish law; the number of such EU directives which are overdue for transposition; when he expects that overdue directives will be transposed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Department of the Taoiseach has no Directives awaiting transposition.

My Department does however have a role in monitoring the transposition of EU Directives. Minister of State, Deputy Noel Treacy chairs an Interdepartmental Coordinating Committee on European Union Affairs. The Committee keeps under review, and works to ensure coherence on, the full range of issues on the EU's agenda. The Committee has a particular focus on the correct and timely transposition of EU legislation.
