Question 477: To ask the Minister for Education and Science the reason a school (details supplied) has not been allocated funding under the summer schools capital programme which the school has applied for directly to her Department for the past three years; the steps she will take to ensure the necessary funding is provided to enable the school management to convert accommodation to classrooms to facilitate increased numbers; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The management authority of the school to which the Deputy refers applied for funding for the first time under the Summer Works Scheme 2006. It sought funding to modify a classroom. The application fell under Category 8 of the published prioritisation criteria for the Scheme. Due to the level of demand for funding for higher priority projects, unfortunately, it was not possible to fund the project in question that year. The school authority has applied for a resource room under the Summer Works Scheme for 2007. The 2007 applications are currently being assessed and I intend to publish a list of successful applicants before Christmas.
