Question 429: To ask the Minister for Transport his plans to address the lack of public transport facilities in areas (details supplied); if his attention has been drawn to the lack of proposals in the Transport 21 programme to include these areas; when these areas can expect to have their traffic and transport needs addressed; if his attention has been drawn further to the chronic traffic congestion, every day, in these areas; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The areas referred to by the Deputy are currently serviced by extensive bus services operated by Dublin Bus. In line with the commitments in the Agreed Programme for Government and Transport 21, the Government has made a number of significant decisions recently that will provide a solid basis for expanded and improved bus services in Dublin over the coming years. In this regard, my statement of 28th September about additional bus services in Dublin and my more recent statement about establishing a Dublin Transport Authority refer. As regards local traffic management issues, these are the responsibility of the local authorities in the area.
