An explanatory booklet for farmers, setting out the requirements of the European Communities (Good Agricultural Practice for Protection of Waters) Regulations 2006, has been prepared by my Department in conjunction with the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government. The booklet will be sent to all farmers over the next two weeks along with copies of the Regulations themselves. It will also be available on my Department's website.

In addition, commencing on Monday 20 November, my Department and Teagasc will hold a series of meetings for farmers throughout the country to provide information on all aspects of the Regulations. The dates and venues of these meetings will be advertised in the farming press next week and I would strongly encourage farmers to attend.
