Question 178: To ask the Minister for Health and Children the number of patients who have been tested for MRSA in the public hospital system in the past 12 months; the number of those who tested positive for the presence of MRSA; and the number of those patients who were formally told that they had MRSA. Infection prevention and control in health institutions is a matter for the Health Service Executive (HSE), as part of its overall responsibility for the management and delivery of health and personal social services. Accordingly, my Department has requested the Parliamentary Affairs Division of the HSE to address the issue raised in the question and to reply directly to the Deputy.
