Question 242: To ask the Minister for Transport further to Parliamentary Question No. 1102 of 27 September 2006, if negotiations have been entered into with the landowner of the current site with a view to securing an alternative site or if negotiations have started with another landowner with view to securing a permanent site for the Doolin Coastguard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I have in reply to the previous question referred to by the Deputy stated that I am conscious of the need for improved accommodation for the Doolin Coastal Unit and am continuing to act to secure such accommodation. I do not wish to elaborate upon the negotiations taking place at present. Coast Guard management has been asked to consider, as a matter of urgency, alternative locations to permanently house the Doolin Unit in the locality.
