Question 246: To ask the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources further to the disruption to postal services in south County Dublin, the effect this is having on business in the area and An Post's failure to carry out its statutory obligation to provide a daily postal service; his plans to introduce competition in this area. Matters relating to quality and levels of postal service are a matter in the first instance for the management and board of An Post.
The Commission for Communications Regulation, ComReg, in accordance with the provisions of S.I. 616 of 2002 European Communities (Postal Services) Regulations, is responsible for the monitoring, measurement and regulation of the postal sector including measuring the levels of service to be achieved by An Post and ensuring that the company abides by its statutory universal service obligations.
