Question 324: To ask the Minister for Health and Children the number of times since 1987 that civil servants have been forced to obtain orders from the courts enforcing or associated with enforcing their contractual rights and entitlements; the additional cost to the Exchequer over and above that which would have prevailed had the State recognised and honoured the contractual rights and entitlements involved in the first instance; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Since 1987 one officer of my department has pursued such a claim through the Courts. This matter was the subject of a judicial review in the High Court and as it is now the subject of litigation, I do not propose to comment further.
