I announced earlier this year the appointment of Mr. John Fitzgerald as Chairperson of the Grangegorman Development Agency and I am now actively considering the other appointments to the Agency. In the interim, a temporary Chief Executive Officer has been appointed and is undertaking some necessary work such as the sourcing of suitable office accommodation and staff in preparation for the new Agency.

As the Deputy will be aware, Section 17 of the Grangegorman Development Agency Act 2005 specifies that the residents of the Grangegorman neighbourhood are entitled to nominate one person to be a member of the Agency following an election process to be conducted by the Chairperson. This election has taken place and a resident has been nominated for appointment to the Agency.

In addition, Section 22 of the Act provides for the establishment, by the Agency, of a consultative group that is representative of all stakeholders interested in the development of the Grangegorman Site. The legislation recognises the residents of the Grangegorman neighbourhood specifically among the stakeholders that should be represented on the Consultative Group. Up to 2 members of the Consultative Group may be nominated by the residents of the Grangegorman neighbourhood.

I expect to be in a position announce shortly the membership and date of the first meeting the Agency.
