The figures for burglaries recorded and detected for each Garda division are available in the relevant Garda Annual Reports, copies of which are available in the Oireachtas Library.

I was pleased to note that the Garda annual report for 2005 shows that the total number of burglaries recorded in the Dublin Metropolitan Region has decreased from 10.3 per 1,000 of population in 2003 to 9.2 per 1,000 of population in 2005. The number of burglaries recorded in the Dublin Metropolitan Region Northern Division, which includes the Ballymun, Santry and Whitehall areas, fell from 7.1 per 1,000 of population in 2003 to 5.4 per 1,000 of population in 2005. The number of burglaries recorded in the Dublin Metropolitan Region Western Division, which includes the Finglas area, fell from 9 per 1,000 of population in 2003 to 5.8 per 1,000 of population in 2005.
