I refer the Deputy to my response to Parliamentary Question 453 of 30 May 2006. My Department has been consulting with the relevant stakeholders in this area about the imposition of standards for socially monitored alarms, as covered by the Scheme of Community Support for Older People (CSOP), in particular IS EN50134.

This process involves consultations with the NSAI and with service providers and community and voluntary groups who implement this scheme in their own communities. As previously indicated, it is the intention of my Department to only fund installations by certified installers once this process has been completed.
