Question 278: To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will put in place a safety and security plan to deal with the anti-social activities in an area (details supplied); and to work with the Clontarf Garda Station on this matter. [28820/06]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the area referred to is regularly patrolled by uniform and plain clothes Gardaí from Clontarf and Raheny Garda stations with a view to ensuring a concentrated and visible Garda presence in the area. These patrols are backed up by Divisional Garda Units, including the Traffic Corps, Mountain Bike, Drug Unit, Task Force and the District and Divisional Detective Units. I understand that Gardaí attached to the Community Policing Unit have a good relationship with the local community. Additional resources have recently being allocated to the relevant local Garda station enabling local Garda management to assign Gardaí to full time beat patrols in the area.

I am further informed by the Garda authorities that current policing plans in the area are designed to achieve, inter alia, the prevention of anti-social and public order offences; the prevention of crime including crimes of violence against persons and property and the maintenance of an environment conducive to the improvement of quality of life of the residents. This strategy will continue to be central to the delivery of a policing service to the area.
