Question 541: To ask the Minister for Agriculture and Food the number of children who benefited from the school milk scheme in 2005; and if she will provide the Deputy with a detailed break-down of what the cost of the scheme in 2005 was spent on. [26363/06]

My Department estimates that around 78,000 children benefited under the School Milk Scheme during the school year 2004/05.
Total expenditure under the Scheme during this period amounted to €985,587.29; of which €978,051.19 related to milk with the balance spent on cheese.
