I am aware of complaints by a local residents' association in relation to parking problems on the roads that are located in the environs of Croke Park outside the Garda parking control area on match days and on the dates of concert events when a large influx of motorists from outside the area park on those residential roads for the duration of the events. Dublin City Council has also contacted my Department in relation to this matter.

My Department is examining the legislative provisions that are available to road authorities at present when applying restrictions and prohibitions on the parking of vehicles on public roads to ascertain the scope of application of these existing provisions and to determine if new legislation is warranted.

Question 448: To ask the Minister for Transport if he has reached a decision on the maximum height of trucks permitted on roads here; when same will be announced; if this will impact on Dublin City Council policy in respect of the Dublin Port Tunnel and the management of traffic in Dublin City; and if he will make a statement on the matter. There is currently no height limit for goods vehicles. I am currently considering the introduction of a height limit for vehicles taking account of the wide-ranging submissions received arising from the public consultation on the matter last year. I expect to make a decision in this matter shortly.

In the event that it is decided to introduce a statutory height restriction for vehicles, it will be necessary to submit the draft Regulations to the European Commission for consideration and for referral to other Member States in accordance with the Technical Standards and Regulations Directive (Directive 98/34).
