Question 437: To ask the Minister for Transport the number of people over the age of 65 driving on a long term provisional licence; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25596/06]

The period of a provisional licence is generally two years and in certain instances 1 year.

As indicated in my reply to Question 20263/06 Ref. No. 191 of 25 May, 2006 the number of provisional licence holders at 31 December, 2005 aged 65 years and over is 4,388.
