In February 2006 Member States were invited to make submissions on an EU consultative document on Labelling, Competitiveness, Consumer Information and Better Regulation in the EU. Against this background and at the request of my Department, the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) undertook a public consultation exercise which assisted in developing the Irish response to the questions raised: the Irish response was co-ordinated by my Department.

I have arranged for a copy of my Department's submission to be sent to the Deputy.
