Question 135: To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Health and Children if she will investigate the alleged comments of the founder of an organisation (details supplied); if she will ensure that these statements are challenged and not given support by, for example, funding either directly or indirectly; and if she will make a statement on the matter. A range of family planning and crisis pregnancy counselling services, including the one referred to by the Deputy, are in receipt of public funding in order to increase access for the public to such services. These organisations operate in the Irish legal environment and as such, the manner in which they provide them must be in accordance with the governing statutory framework and the service arrangements made between the parties.

I understand that the person to whom the Deputy refers died approximately 40 years ago; and therefore, the comments attributed to her are not, in my view, relevant to the service arrangements in place for providing family planning and crisis pregnancy counselling services.
