Question 471: To ask the Minister for Education and Science her Department's proposals in relation to a recent survey carried out by way of independent study for her Department as to the provision of secondary school facilities for the Kinnegad area of County Westmeath, as it is an increasing area of population; if it is proposed that a secondary school would be put in place by 2011 based on population projections for this area; and if she will make a statement on the matter. As the Deputy will be aware, the local area development plan for the N4/M4 corridor outlines my Department's long-term educational strategy at both primary and post-primary level for the area concerned. The recommendations in the plan are being considered in the context of the School Building and Modernisation Programme from 2006 onwards subject to the prioritisation criteria for large scale building projects.
