Question 191: To ask the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will review the application for naturalisation in the case of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 15 which was previously refused but in course thereof reference is made to the person as being of male and female gender; if there has been confusion with another case; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I assume the Deputy is referring to the submission which was forwarded to me by officials in the Citizenship Section of my Department and a copy of which was forwarded to the person concerned with the letter conveying my decision on her application. I understand that this submission, which was compiled using a template form, refers to the applicant in the male gender on a number of occasions.
To ensure that my decision was correct in this instance, I have asked my officials to review the file and resubmit it to me as soon as possible. I will advise the Deputy and the applicant of my decision in due course.
