Since the establishment of the Teaching Council on 28 March last, all teachers are required to register with that body. If the person to whom the Deputy refers wishes to become a recognised teacher she must, firstly, satisfy the Council that her qualifications meet the standards laid down for this purpose.

The qualification requirements for appointment to Complementary Therapy teaching posts are set out in my Department's Circular Letter PPT 04/04, which was issued to all Vocational Education Committees and has been published on my Department's website — www.education.ie. The terms of this circular are of general application to all proposed teaching appointments in the area of Complementary Therapy. It is a matter for individual VECs to be satisfied that any proposed appointee is appropriately qualified in accordance with the terms of this circular letter.
