Question 491: To ask the Minister for Education and Science if her attention has been drawn to the proposed closure of a pre-school facility (details supplied) in Dublin 12; if her attention has further been drawn to the effect this closure will have on parents and children who will lose places in the pre-school; if she will intervene to ensure that this facility is retained for the coming academic year to allow parents to make alternative arrangements; and if she will make a statement on the matter. My officials have been in contact with the school authorities concerned. The pre-school referred to by the Deputy appears to be a privately operated facility and the promoters of the pre-school are renting accommodation from the Board of Management of the school. My Department has no involvement in the operation of the pre-school and in the circumstances it would not be appropriate for me to become involved.
