Question 274: To ask the Minister for Finance further to Parliamentary Question No. 207 of 9 May 2006 and his reference to telecommunication equipment in the clock tower at Farmleigh, if this is a phone mast or its equivalent; if it serves mobile phone operators; the telecommunications companies which have access to this equipment; the fee they pay for its use; and if he will make a statement on the matter. In order to provide mobile coverage for State events at Farmleigh, the Commissioners of Public Works granted permission for the installation of telecommunications equipment in the Clock Tower at Farmleigh.

The telecommunications equipment located in the Clock Tower at Farmleigh currently serves two mobile phone operators — Vodafone & O2.

The standard licence fee in this case is €13,500 per annum.
