Question 420: To ask the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform his Department's policy in regard to the legislation, staffing and reporting relating to the Garda carriage office. [18261/06]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the staffing of the Garda carriage office includes Gardaí and civilian personnel under the direct control of the Chief Superintendent, Regional Traffic Division. The Inspector in charge of the carriage office reports to the Chief Superintendent, Regional Traffic Division.

The legislation pertaining to the carriage office is contained in the Public Service Vehicle Regulations 1963-2002.
