Question 109: To ask the Minister for Finance the reason the Office of Public Works advertised the Phoenix Park traffic study in one newspaper only (detail supplied); and in view of the fact that the purpose of the advertisement is to obtain submissions from interested parties and the general public if the advertisement will be placed in independent newspapers and the time limit for submissions extended for a further two weeks. In addition to the advertisement in the Saturday edition of the Irish Times dated 15th April, the advertisement was displayed in a number of prominent locations in the Phoenix Park and a range of interested parties, including local community interests, were invited to make submissions. The Commissioners are satisfied therefore that all reasonable efforts have been made to bring this matter to the attention of the public and there are no proposals to advertise further.
I can confirm also that the issue was covered in a popular radio programme on Friday 5th May and in the course of that programme it was mentioned that the deadline for receipt of submissions was being extended to facilitate the public.
