Question 153: To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Health and Children if she will publish or make available to Deputies a Health Service Executive report completed in 2005 which, according to media reports, found that health authorities are failing to protect hundreds of separated children seeking asylum from the risk of abuse due to a lack of follow-up checks on young people reunited with adults claiming to be their relatives; and to make a statement outlining the progress of the Government in addressing the report's findings. This report is under examination in the Office of the Minister for Children and I have asked that a Working Group be established to consider the issues involved. Nominations have been made by the relevant public bodies including the Health Service Executive and the first meeting of the group is to be held in the coming weeks.

This report was commissioned by the Health Service Executive and therefore the publication of the report is a matter for the Health Service Executive. Accordingly, my Department has requested the Parliamentary Affairs Division of the Executive to arrange to have this matter investigated and to have a reply issued directly to the Deputy.
