Question 89: To ask the Minister for Transport if he has fully satisfied himself that there is a sufficient two-way flow of information between the Gardaí and the National Drivers File, in relation to the implementation of the National Road Safety Strategy, specifically the penalty points system; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The development of the support system for the penalty point system involved significant and ongoing consultation with all the State Agencies involved including An Garda Síochána, the Court Service, the Vehicle Registration Unit of the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government and the Department of Justice Equality and Law Reform. The position is kept under review and where improvement is desirable this will be pursued.
