Question 89: To ask the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism if he will confirm that he has reached agreement with the Gaelic Players' Association that his Department is prepared to provide senior inter-county hurlers and footballers with special grant aid; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I recently met with the Gaelic Players Association, GPA, to discuss their proposed grant scheme for GAA players. At this meeting, I advised the GPA that ultimately it is a matter for the governance structures within the GAA, to determine how best the important contribution of its own elite players should be recognised.
