Question 66: To ask the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources the correspondence he has received from the European Commission with regard to discrimination that may have taken place against renewable generating companies in the electricity market here; the action the Commission is proposing to take in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. On Tuesday afternoon last, 4 April, the EU Commission issued a press release stating it is taking action against several member states, including Ireland, regarding the full transposition of Directive 2001/77/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council. The Department has not received the formal correspondence on this matter.
