Question 574: To ask the Minister for Defence if his attention has been drawn to the intelligence from the Defence Forces military intelligence section G2 which predicted a riot in Dublin in connection with the Love Ulster rally on 25 February; the action he took to inform the Garda Síochána authorities or the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform of those predictions prior to the date of the Love Ulster rally; and the contact which he has had with the Defence Forces military intelligence section G2 on this matter since. The Garda Síochána and the Defence Forces perform complementary roles regarding the protection of the security of the State, and there is ongoing and close liaison. However, it has never been the policy for the Minister for Defence to comment publicly on such matters. I do not intend to depart from that policy on this occasion.
