Question 246: To ask the Minister for Education and Science if she has schemes through which a plan could be developed to take over a swimming pool which has been an enormous asset to the community, but in which the religious order which owns it wishes to divest its interest, with the possible participation in that plan of local swimming pool clubs, local schools and the local authority (details supplied). There are no plans at present for my Department to contribute towards the cost of developing or taking over swimming pools. The priority is to apply all capital funding allocated to my Department to school and college development. The Deputy may wish to pursue this matter with the Department of Arts, Sports and Tourism and-or the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government.
