Question 381: To ask the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform his plans to reopen the Curragh Prison, Curragh, County Kildare; his proposals in regard to the facility; the number of personnel employed in the prison for maintenance purposes, etc.; the cost to his Department for this aspect of maintenance; and if he will make a statement on the matter. There are no proposals to reopen the Curragh Prison. No staff are assigned there for maintenance or other purposes and no money has been spent on maintenance in the current year. The future of the facility will be the subject of discussions between the Irish Prison Service and the Department of Defence.
