Question 115: To ask the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the number of young persons, as defined in the Protection of Young Persons (Employment) Act 1996, in employment at 31 December 2005 or the most recent available figures; and the number of employers who had young persons in their employment on the same date. The Department does not have the statistical information sought by the Deputy. A perusal of the Central Statistics Office website indicates that in the period September to November 2005 there were 71,200 persons in employment ranging in age from 15 years to 19 years.
