Question 895: To ask the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government further to Parliamentary Question No. 215 of 8 March 2006, the circumstances under which a licence would be issued for the sale or possession of glue traps; if such licences have been issued to date; and if so, to whom and for what purpose. No licences have been issued for the sale or possession of glue traps and my Department does not currently envisage circumstances in which such traps would be licensed for general sale and use. In a situation, for example, of a serious infestation of poison-resistant rats or mice, the licensing of the use of such traps by professionals under strict conditions might however have to be considered in the absence of any effective alternative means of control.
